Leadership Philosophy.
I believe that:
- The teaching voice, and the learning voice, should be a part of every conversation.
- Leaders are most effective when they are true to their own values, beliefs and personalities.
- Actions speak volumes. It is important to lead by example, and not shy away from thankless or mundane work.
- Leadership should not be about status or power. Leadership should be about enabling constant improvement.
- Hierarchical leadership is often exclusionary and isolating. Realize that incredible ideas come out of community, dialogue, and relationship.
- Strong leadership inspires people to do and be their best.
- A great team is not made up of mindless followers. Therefore, a leader must welcome misfits, wild ideas, and suggestions for improvement, as well as cultivate an atmosphere that encourages critical thinking.
- There is always something to learn.
- There is always something to teach.
